Powertrain Engineering
PROTON's Powertrain Department does more than just develop independently designed engine and transmissions. This department is also capable of calibrating and developing its own Engine Management Systems (EMS). Additionally, they are responsible for commercially visible engine and transmissions that exceed international standards.
The Powertrain Department is also actively involved in evaluating future technologies that carries the potential of being adapted to vehicles. Their current projects include research into introducing environmentally friendly solutions such as natural gas vehicles and developing palm oil-based fuels.
Currently, we are tracking the hybrid technology. A combination of electric and internal combustion engines that effectively reduce engine emissions to build more economical and environmentally safe engines.
