Dato' Michael Lim has been a Director of PROTON since 15 September 2006 and is also a Member of PROTON's Board Audit Committee, Board Disciplinary Committee and Board Nomination & Remuneration Committee. Dato' Michael also sits on the Boards of various subsidiaries within the PROTON Group of companies.

Dato' Michael began his career with the UMW Group in 1975 and held various senior managerial positions after graduating with an Honours Degree in Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, in the United Kingdom.

In 1986 Dato' Michael was appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd., a joint venture company between UMW and Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan. Dato' Michael retired in 2004.

Dato' Michael is currently the Chairman of Furniweb Industrial Products Bhd., and lends his expertise to the export oriented manufacturing company with plants in Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand.

Dato' Michael has attended 12 out of the 14 Board of Directors' Meetings held during the Financial Year Ended 31 March 2011. He has no conflict of interest with the Company and has no family relationships with any other Director and/or Major Shareholder of the Company. He has never been convicted for any offence within the past ten (10) years.
