Pintar Program
Helping children escape the harshness of poverty.
Pintar Program, a collaborative effort led by the GLCs to assist children from low-income families coordinated by Khazanah Nasional Berhad via Pintar Foundation with the following objectives:
- Improve students' (from rural and sub-urban) academic performance.
- To influence positive character building.
PINTAR is a channel for corporations, the Government and related parties to collaborate towards achieving the program's following objectives.
- GLCs are invited to jointly contribute to ensure the program's success.
- Continuous feedback to improve programme design is highly valued.
- PINTAR focuses on the importance of education for improvement and success.
- Customised activities are implemented to motivate the children to succeed.
- Parental awareness and involvement will be encouraged.
- Support from principals, teachers and the community will be crucial.
- PINTAR will also help ensure a conducive learning environment for the children.
As YTD, the three year program which started in 2007, PROTON has adopted 4 schools with 3,200 students (one secondary and 3 primary schools): SM Paya Keladi, Kepala Batas; SRK Bagan Tuan Kechil, Butterworth; SRK Tanjung Malim and SRK Paloh, Pintu Geng, Kelantan.
